Rotary Cam Indexer is the core component for achieving multi station intermittent operations in industrial automation, widely used in scenarios that require efficient switching of stations while ensuring positioning accuracy.

 

The core of Rotary Cam Indexer consists of a cam (active component) and an indexing plate/output shaft (passive component), and its working logic is based on the contour curve design of the mechanical cam:

 

1). Cam rotation: The active shaft drives the cam to rotate continuously and uniformly (usually driven by a motor).

2). Graduation stage: The convex part of the cam meshes with the rollers/teeth on the indexing plate, pushing the output shaft to rotate at a preset angle (such as 30 °, 45 °, 60 °, etc.) to complete the workstation switch.

3). Pause stage: The arc-shaped part of the cam contacts the indexing plate, and the output shaft remains stationary. At this time, assembly, processing, testing, and other processes can be carried out. The pause time is determined by the cam design.

 

Through the precise design of the cam profile, the rotating cam caliper can achieve precise indexing angles, no drift during pauses, and no impact during motion. The positioning accuracy can reach ± 30 "(seconds) to ± 1 '(minutes), or even higher.
