Ball Screw Drive's working principle is based on rolling friction: the surface of the screw shaft is machined with precise spiral raceways, and there are corresponding spiral grooves inside the nut, with balls filling the gap between the two raceways. When the motor drives the screw to rotate (or the nut is driven to rotate by external force), the ball rolls along the spiral raceway and pushes the nut (or screw) to make linear motion in the axial direction through rolling friction. The circulation mechanism guides the ball to return from the end of the raceway to the starting end, forming a closed cycle to ensure continuous and uninterrupted motion.
Compared with traditional sliding screw transmission, Ball Screw Drive has significant advantages. Firstly, it is high efficiency. The transmission efficiency of sliding friction is usually only 20% -40%, while ball screws rely on rolling friction to achieve an efficiency of over 90%, greatly reducing power loss and suitable for high-speed and high-frequency motion scenarios. Second is high precision. Through precision grinding, its positioning accuracy can be controlled at the micrometer level, with minimal repeat positioning error, which can meet the requirements of precision feed and positioning. In addition, Ball Screw Drive has low wear and long service life, and rolling friction reduces direct wear between parts. Combined with lubrication system, it can significantly extend the service life.
