Linear Guide is a linear motion reference element in precision mechanical systems, which converts sliding friction into rolling / fluid friction. Linear Guide is the fundamental component for achieving linear motion control in industrial automation, precision manufacturing, and high-end equipment, covering various structural forms, but usually working mainly through rolling friction.

 

Linear Guide is a relatively broad term that refers to all devices that implement linear guidance functions, including Rolling Linear Guide,Sliding Linear Guide, Aerostatic / Magnetic Guide,Crossed Roller Guide, etc. Among them,rolling linear guide with ball or roller as the rolling element is the most common type and the main reference object of "Linear Guide" in the industrial field.

 

Core structure of a linear guide device typically consists of three basic parts: a guide way: a rigid component fixed to the equipment base that provides a reference motion trajectory (such as guide rails, guide slots, etc.). Moving Block/Carrier: A movable component connected to an executing component that moves along a guiding substrate. Contact medium: a force transmission element between the guiding substrate and the moving carrier, with rolling type being ball/roller, sliding type being wear-resistant material, and air floating type being air film, etc. During operation, the mobile carrier moves along the guiding substrate under the driving force, and the contact medium reduces energy loss by reducing friction (rolling or fluid lubrication). At the same time, the straightness of the motion trajectory is ensured through structural constraints (such as precision raceways and guiding surfaces), and the rigidity and anti-interference ability of the system are improved through pre tensioning design.
